The Trúc Bạch Community Hub is one of the very first projects in which we collaborated with the People’s Committee of Ba Đình District in Hanoi. The project sits at an important junction, marking the entrance to the Ngũ Xã Peninsula on the banks of Trúc Bạch Lake.
The hub’s concept draws inspiration from the vibrant character of its surroundings, including the lively atmosphere, colorful lanterns illuminating the canal at night, and the expansive wall mural advocating for environmental protection and reducing plastic waste.
The central spiral staircase acts as the hub's connective spine, a civic connector that draws visitors up to an open, green rooftop where community events and gatherings can take place. This elevated space offers breathtaking views toward Trúc Bạch Lake, fostering a deeper connection with the local landscape.
Each brightly colored floor serves as a meeting place for community groups, celebrating the area’s diversity and the legacy of the social-environmental cleanup campaigns. As night falls, the building lights up, echoing the vibrant lanterns that line the canal and enhancing the area’s lively nightscape.
Encasing the structure, a translucent white screen unifies the architectural elements and pays homage to Trúc Bạch’s silk heritage, also known as bamboo silk, weaving local cultural history into the fabric of the community hub.
