At Comma.Studio, our vision is to design environments that evoke profound atmospheres and foster emotional, joyful experiences for all who inhabit them. Founded by Phuong Nguyen and Haram Hong, our studio's name is inspired by the Korean word 쉼표, or "comma," symbolizing a place of rest, tranquility, and the anticipation of future possibilities. This reflects our commitment to creating architecture that continuously evolves with new ideas to further enhance the built environment.

Our approach to architecture is deeply collaborative—much like the symbol “comma” —integrating and building upon the ideas and expertise of clients, collaborators, and specialists. At Comma.Studio, we believe the design process is a journey enriched by each unique contribution, aiming to create spaces as dynamic and interconnected as the lives they support.

Haram is a highly skilled architect with extensive experience spanning concept design to the delivery of complex, iconic projects. Known for his strong conceptual thinking, Haram offers innovative design solutions to diverse architectural challenges and project needs, characterised by originality, creativity, and diversity.

Before co-founding Comma.Studio, Haram honed his expertise at prestigious Australian and international firms, including OMA, UNStudio. His portfolio includes significant projects such as the WA Museum Boola Bardip (OMA + Hassell) and the Xintiandi Plaza Shopping Mall & HQ in Shanghai (UNStudio).

Phuong Nguyen

Phuong is a versatile and passionate architect who believes great architecture should not only inspire but also reflect and embody the lives of the people it serves. With a diverse skill set and extensive experience in the design and delivery of a wide range of project types—including residential, institutional, university, justice, and healthcare facilities—Phuong excels in interdisciplinary collaboration. She seamlessly integrates insights and ideas from various project typologies, enhancing design quality and fostering innovation through the cross-pollination of ideas to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients.

Before co-founding Comma.Studio, Phuong honed her craft at esteemed design firms such as McBride Charles Ryan Architects and Hassell Studio.

Together, they have established their own practice to collaborate, innovate, and create architecture that enhances spatial quality, resonates emotionally with the people who experience it, evokes joy and connection, elevates everyday experiences, and brings beauty and meaning into people’s lives.
