hà Hàng Bể Cá
Typology: Hospitality/ Food and Beverage
Area: 50 m2
Year: 2019

In architecture, budget significantly influences the scope and ambition of a project—the freedom to experiment with innovative materials, complex geometries, and intricate detailing can lead to iconic and ambitious outcomes that push the boundaries of design.

However, the challenge often lies in projects with tight budgets—how can we deliver highly effective and thoughtful designs that contribute positively to the urban fabric?

Nhà Hàng Bể Cá, a kitchen takeaway shop, was realized under stringent budget constraints. Yet, it achieved an effective and thoughtful design outcome by utilizing simple, locally sourced, off-the-shelf surplus materials that were both economical and environmentally responsible.

The geometry was thoughtfully considered, driven by feng shui orientation, an important factor in Asian cultures, particularly in business settings. Playful, bold colors reflected the kitchen’s brand identity. The result not only brought a distinct identity to the kitchen’s shopfront but also satisfied the functional requirements outlined in the brief. This small corner shop became more than just a storefront; it emerged as a memorable destination and a distinct identity for the kitchen.

This project illustrates the beauty of creativity within limitations, showing how a modest budget can yield designs that elevate the existing built environment, meeting functional demands while leaving a meaningful imprint.
